Meet the Buzzell, Welsh & Hill College Scholarship Program Winners!
This year, we’ve chosen two winners for our Buzzell, Welsh & Hill 2nd Annual College Scholarship Program. Abigail Ellison and Matt Newberry—best friends from the Macon area—both submitted heart-tugging marketing campaigns to help educate the public about the dangers of distracted driving.
For us, this is a personal issue: It’s so tragic to see young lives changed or even lost due to the distraction of a moment. But Abigail and Matt understand that anyone—including other young drivers—can help play a part in education. For their submissions, they both created compelling marketing plans, including powerful videos.
Congratulations to our 2020 winners!
Abigail graduates with honors this June from Stratford Academy. During her time in school, Abigail was also a cheerleader, the captain of the lacrosse team and a member of several clubs. She likes to paint and read in her free time. Next fall, she’ll start classes at Georgia Tech, majoring in Literature, Media and Communication and minoring in French.
Matt graduates from Stratford Academy this spring as well. Matt participated in theatre, swimming, the student council, Pep Club and the literary magazine. A self-described “high-energy extrovert, ” he plans to double major in Communication Design and Spanish at Elon University. “I am so thankful to the Buzzell, Welsh & Hill Scholarship Program for creating an opportunity to lessen the financial burden of a higher education for kids like me, while also spreading such an important, prevalent message in the process,” said Matt.
